A pair of tries from Newcastle Falcons wing Zach Kibirige helped Blaydon extend their unbeaten run to eight games with a 51-14 thrashing of Wharfedale on Saturday.

The teenage flyer stepped his man for Blaydon’s second score following an earlier penalty try, and then produced a stunning solo run which stretched virtually the entire length of the Crow Trees pitch, leaving multiple defenders in his wake.

That put Blaydon into a 22-7 half-time lead, Harry Bate and Chris Wearmouth adding tries before Tom Jeffrey and Ben Morris completed the rout.

Also in National One, Tynedale’s search for a first win in six ended in a creditable 36-34 defeat at Coventry.

A pair of tries from tight-head prop Matthew Shields and one from wing Dan Rundle had them in contention at half-time, trailing their West Midlands hosts 26-17.

Craig Illingworth’s try on the hour mark kept the visitors in with a shout, and despite Coventry pressing ahead late touch-downs from Matthew Outson and Rundle provided a pair of bonus points in a game which saw a debut for Falcons loan signing Andy Saull.

Full-back Henry Robinson scored a hat-trick of tries for Darlington Mowden Park as they continued to keep pace with Macclesfield and Stourbridge in National Two North.

The Mowden men ran in a total of 10 tries in a 62-17 hammering of Leicester Lions, spreading the tries right throughout the side.

In National Three North, meanwhile, Westoe fell 43-19 at Huddersfield, Percy Park losing 33-21 to Sandal.
