TYNEDALE increased their top-four National One credentials with an 11-try Stourbridge hammering in Corbridge yesterday.

Jamie Murray, Jack Harrison and Hamish Smales all grabbed a brace of tries, while Ben Marshall, Joe Graham, Gavin Beasley, Harry Peck and Andrew Hall completed the scoring.

The 71-14 victory pushed Tynedale up to fourth in the National One table, and continued their unbeaten 2010.

Despite resting several key players Tom Borthwick’s men still dispatched their powerful visitors without issue, and the manner of the win leaves Tynedale primed to push even further towards the league power brokers.

The hosts only needed 10 minutes to rack up the four-try bonus point, and never slackened their pace in the quest for a superlative win.

Blaydon found the going a whole lot tougher at Liberty Way as the scrapped to a 24-20 victory over Nuneaton.

But despite edging the result Blaydon still ran in four tries, through Adam Armstrong, Adam Dehaty, Gavin Jones and Andrew Baggett, to secure an important bonus point.

The hosts only mustered one try, but Hugh Thomas’ four penalties and David Johnston’s drop-goal had the Nuns in close contention.

But Tom Rock’s men are made of steely stuff and will have been delighted to bounce back to winning ways after a battling defeat at London Scottish last weekend.

In National Two North, Westoe lost out 32-22 at Rugby Lions, while in North One East Morpeth dispatched Ilkley 21-0, with Percy Park easing past Gateshead 31-8 and Darlington going down 34-7 at Billingham.

In Durham/Northumberland One, Wallsend stuck at it for a 19-10 win at Ashington, while Northern smashed past Hartlepool 32-12, Novos edged out Gosforth 15-8, Sunderland lost 24-8 at Stockton and Team Northumbria accounted for Alnwick 45-8.
