DANNY Stewart will begin his Newcastle Vipers career in Sheffield.
Newcastle’s first Elite League game under their new player-coach is at Sheffield Steelers on September 18, part one of a double-header against Dave Matsos’ side.
The return is at Hillheads the following day.
With part of the new schedule already trailed, the Vipers knew they would be the first visitors to Braehead Clan (October 1). But they will have to wait until December before taking on the league’s other newcomers, Dundee Stars.
The addition of the two Scottish clubs has created a 54-match programme where every team plays each other three times at home and three away.
The Vipers will play all their home games in Whitley Bay next season after failing to negotiate a return to Newcastle Arena.
The fans will have a home match to look forward to almost every weekend, generally facing off at 7pm or 5.30pm. Most are on Saturdays.
There are no midweek home matches, expect during the Christmas holidays. Hull Stingrays provide the Boxing Day opposition.
The regular campaign finishes in Dundee on March 20.
