The city of Sunderland gained a hat-trick of winners at the Junior ABA Championship finals at Crystal Palace.

Jonson McClumpha and Liam Knight from Plains Farm were joined on the victors' rostrum by Columb Henry of the SR Club in Silksworth.

McClumpha beat Chris Betteridge (North West) on points and then celebrated by getting called up to the England squad.

Knight defeated Leon Rennie (Southern Counties) while Henry overcame Jack Radford from Yorkshire.

Peterlee's Declan Fusco, 16, who fights for the East Durham club, beat Mohammed Joraat (All Stars) to take the gold medal in Class 4, under 80kgs category.

Matthew Wall of Newbiggin dropped a points decision to Anthony Fowler, who comes from the same family as Liverpool striker Robbie.

"Wall lost by a decent margin according to the electronic scoring system, but it was Fowler's face that was heavily marked," said Area secretary Ron Harvey. "The winner had to see a doctor."

Luke O'Rourke of Consett lost to Oscar Webb (Repton) but took the silver medal.
