TWO North East amateur golfers have won a place in the Audi Quattro Cup UK final. Paul Benoliel, of Saltburn, and his playing partner Scott Robinson, from Riding Mill, Northumberland, join eight other golfers who have qualified for the event in September.
The golfing partners won the Northern Regional final at Slaley Hall Golf Club, with a score of 41 points in the Stableford rules match.
Twenty pairs of amateur golfers competed in the 18-hole competition, having earned a place by securing a top placing in one of more than 20 qualifying tournaments staged from May to July.
The top five pairs from this event, plus successful candidates from a further two regional events, now contest the Audi Quattro Cup UK Final, at Bowood Golf and Country Club, Wiltshire.
The top two placed pairs in the Audi Quattro Cup UK final, go forward to represent Great Britain in the Audi Quattro Cup world final, staged at the Pevero Golf Club, Sardinia, Italy in October.
The Audi Quattro Cup, being staged for the 20th year, is the world’s largest amateur golf competition with almost 80,000 players from more than 50 countries expected to compete for a place in the week-long world final.
