Pain game

Ernie Els believes his best form is just around the corner now he has finally put a year-long knee problem behind him.

The South African showed glimpses of the talent that has earned him three major titles when he carded a five-under-par 67 in the Nedbank Challenge at Sun City.

Els has struggled with his swing since injuring his left knee in a sailing accident last year and he admits the pain was having an effect.

"I think if the accident had happened with my right knee and got all screwed up, it would have been a little different," he said. "Going back and coming through the ball there is a lot of weight transfer to the left and I'm not the lightest guy."
