No point in saying sorry

GARY Donnison, brought up in Newcastle and now attached to Cheshire’s Mobberley club, and Lancashire’s David Shacklady don’t like saying sorry on the course.

They say that helped them sign for an eight-under 62 to win the North Region Qualifier of the Skins PGA Fourball Championship at Woodsome Hall near Huddersfield.

The 54-hole final, which carries a £30,000 prize fund, is at Forest Pines, Lincoln, on October 6-8 and Donnison said: “So many fourball pairings apologise to one another when one of them makes a bad shot.

“We don’t do that. We both accept that someone will make a mistake at some point because that’s golf.

“So there’s no point in saying sorry every time that happens, you just get on with it.”
