Overall points winners during the week were: Men: Winner, Brian Simon (La Manga), runners-up, Les Maynard and Roy Pearce (Middlesborough Municipal); Ladies: Winner, Ruth Maynard (Cleveland), runners-up Candy Brown and Jean Thomson (Parklands & Teesside).
EWGA look to raise funds
AN online auction has been launched by the English Women's Golf Association to raise urgently-needed funds for the EWGA Trust, its charity for girls' golf.
The lots include tickets for big championships and signed golf memorabilia.
Bids are invited on the EWGA website: www.englishwomensgolf.org
All the lots have been generously donated to raise money for the EWGA Trust. The charity supports girls' golf with grants for coaching, equipment and tournament expenses but its income has fallen dramatically in recent years and it has been forced to cut back on awards.
The lots in the auction include: season tickets for the 2009 Senior Open Championship at Sunningdale from 23- 26 July; two seated tickets for an Arsenal home game; signed memorabilia from Australia's top women golf stars; signed memorabilia from celebrities including European Tour star Oliver Wilson, footballer Ian Wright and comedian Jasper Carrott; signed photographs of Laura Davies; a signed copy of Nick Faldo's autobiography; and a weekday round of golf for four players at Moor Park, Hertfordshire.
LATEST Golf North East competition winners are:
Golf for 4 at Seaham: Mr B Kitchin of Haltwhistle;
Golf for 4 at Dunstanburgh: J.A. Anderson of Kelso.
