More than 100 ladies descended on Romanby Golf & Country Club to see a spectacular fashion show organised by lady captain Rosemary Archer and Margaret Walton, owner of Verve Designer Womenswear in Northallerton. Ladies were firstly treated to canapes and wine on arrival, before the dazzling hour-long show began.

The latest pieces to come from America including Tommy Tuck Jeans were a great hit followed by a good selection of day and evening wear. To round off a splendid evening the ladies were shown the latest lines in jewellery and handbags.

The aim of the event was to raise funds for the Captains' Charities at Romanby Golf Club and the evening proved so successful that £1000 will be added to the charity fund.

Rosemary said: "It's been great to see so many ladies supporting the event. The clothes were magnificent and it was a pleasure to link up with Margaret at Verve. The staffs at Romanby were tremendously helpful in making the event run so smoothly; it's the perfect location to hold a show like this."

Richard Boucher, marketing manager at Romanby, said, "It's one of the non-golfing highlights of the year and our ladies section is exceptionally strong in supporting these events. We do a number of charity events each year, with the money that has been raised by various organisations and groups taking the total to over the £30.000 mark raised at Romanby this year - an achievement that we are extremely proud of."
