After a very exciting finish to the Newcastle and District League season, City of Newcastle came out on top. The lads scored 121 points to win the title for the first time in 41 years, pipping last year's champions Morpeth, who finished second, by just seven points.
City's Phil Ridden is the League's Player of the Year with 24 points, having just edged out team-mate Ken Cairns who, if he had holed a 15 foot putt on the 18th hole, would have won his match and the title on holes up.
This season's Player of The Year title was very close with seven players within two points of each other.
The Most Improved Team of The Year trophy goes to Northumberland Golf Club, who moved up from bottom place to third. Lying fourth going into their final match at home to third-placed Prudhoe, Northumberland won 7-5 to beat them by a point in the final league table.
