HEXHAM Golf Club’s junior member Chris Lamb has celebrated an excellent season by recently winning the prestigious Hadrian League Field Day Shield by shooting a one over par 73 at Newcastle United Golf Club.

Chris, who made his Hadrian League debut last month aged 13, plays off a six handicap and is thought to be the youngest ever member of Hexham’s long established Hadrian League Team, and youngest winner of the Field Day Shield.

This talented teenager also recently won Hexham’s Senior Men’s Alpha Club Championship and was successful in the Northumberland Schools Golf Championships earlier in the season.

Chris has joined two other juniors in the side this year with former Junior Captain Andy Crawford and Junior Team number one Jonny Richardson also making debuts.

Chris said: “I’m really pleased with the way things have gone so far this season, and would like to thank Ian Crawford, Kenny Bell, Dawn Wylie and Andy Paisley from the club, and members for being supportive to me and other junior members by giving players the chance to play for their club. It is a great honour.”
