Castle Eden Golf Club has celebrated the achievement of members at their annual prize presentation evening.
Before the presentations began Captain Maurice Hughes thanked all the members who had kindly made donations and contributed to his chosen charity, Macmillan Cancer Support, throughout the year, culminating with the Charity race night.
Special thanks were given to Bill Brennan, who had recently completed a 10-day walk in Scotland in aid of the Captain’s Charity and for the donation from Albert and Pat Thompson and friends.
A cheque for £2,587 was handed over to assist with the work of the Macmillan nurses to Kevin Richardson representing Macmillan Cancer Support.
Kevin thanked Maurice and explained how this most valued donation would be used towards the work in the local community.
President Eric Jefferson thanked all the gents, ladies and junior members for taking part in the competitions and for the organisation which takes place ensuring these are enjoyed with special thanks to Graham Border and the greens staff for the excellent condition of the golf course during the season.
Eric thought Castle Eden remained one of the best courses in the region.
Captain Maurice, together with Lady Captain Josie Potts, congratulated the winners as they received their trophies assisted by Stuart Forster (Competitions Secretary) and Steve Watkin (Secretary).
Bill Musgrove, the Junior Liaison Officer, was also congratulated for the hard work and dedication to the Junior Section which this year had seen more competitions giving the juniors more opportunity for competitive golf.
