PARKLANDS Golf Club’s Samantha Taylor has been given a unique award from professional Mark Watkins for her fantastic achievements in 2009.

The County junior girls’ champion has received a scholarship award of free coaching for 2010. Mark said: “Sam has exceeded our expectations in 2009. Her hard work and commitment to her golf, together with her many wins in 2009, makes the award easy to give.

“I’ve worked with Sam now for 18 months and seen her progress month by month. She has big ambitions in golf so working more with Sam, without the expense of coaching, we’ll hopefully see 2010 as another big step in achieving her ambitions.”

This is being echoed by Parklands manager David King. He said: “When Mark asked if we could do this for Sam I OK’d it straight away. We hope this is the start of more scholarships to award our juniors that have the potential as well as the work ethic to achieve good results.”

Samantha was surprised and delighted by the award. “This is a great surprise,” she said. “I would like to thank Mark for all his help in improving my golf and to Parklands for giving me this award. Hopefully, I can keep progressing.”
