NEWCASTLE United's U18s produced a sparkling display to end their FA Premier Academy League home season with a win over Leeds United.

Ryan McGorrigan scored twice after Sammy Ameobi and Brad Inman had scored in the first half.

An impressive United could have scored more in a one-sided second half, though home goalkeeper Ben Robinson had to save a late penalty.

Stunning goals were a feature of the game, with the lively Ameobi hitting a superb 19-yard curler into the top corner. Leeds replied with a beauty, James Booker’s 22-yard volley.

Within a minute the Magpies were back in front when Inman played a one-two with Ameobi inside the box to find the bottom corner with a scuffed shot.

Inman found Aaron Spear in the box and his low cross was turned in by McGorrigan early in the second half.

Inman’s through-ball was then lashed home from 18 yards by McGorrigan.
