SOL Campbell emerged from a 60-minute run out for Newcastle Reserves unscathed last night against Liverpool.
The former England defender took another step closer to his first team debut by showing some good touches in a youthful reserve side.
Phil Airey fired United ahead on seven minutes from the spot after being upended by Chrys Mavinga. However, a sublime left-foot effort from 20 yards hauled Liverpool level on 27 minutes.
United regained the lead on the hour when good work by Ryan Donaldson on the right picked out substitute Sam Ameobi, who rolled home a second from close range.
Campbell was withdrawn straight after, youngster Jeff Henderson taking his place.
But with ten minutes to go David Amoo rescued a point for Liverpool when he wriggled his way through on the right and poked home.
