NEWCASTLE United suffered FA Youth Cup heartache last night after losing at Manchester United at the fifth round stage.
The visiitors were undone by Ravel Morrison’s powerful finish in the second half at Altrincham’s Moss Lane ground. The Red Devils now face Liverpool in the next round.
Joe Joyce’s Newcastle side had defended well throughout and had goalkeeper Ben Alnwick to thank as they battled to stay in the match.
Newcastle had started the match slowly but were much more involved after the half-time interval, and had chances to take the lead themselves through Ryan McGorrigan or Remi Streete.
