Wark lost 1-0 at home in their second round tie with Heddon. Craig Scott claimed Heddon's winner with seconds left.

Murton lost 3-2 against hosts Westerhope, despite having George Smith and Lee Doyle on target. Their Division One colleagues edged Murton out thanks to Mark Rutherford's spot kick and two for Liam Anderson.

In the only all-Premier Division cup-tie, Carlisle City won 1-0 at Harraby Catholic Club.

Another six top-flight sides – Ashington Colliers, Ponteland United, Gillford Park, Shankhouse, Blyth Town and Walker Central – reached the League Cup's third round.

Ashington won 4-0 at home to Percy Main with second-half goals for Patrice Butters, Dave Brown (2) and Ross Sparrow. Ponteland beat hosts Berwick United 5-1. Kevin McGorie, Liam McIvor, Gavin Wood, Paul Ford and Dominic Clauzel scored.

Gillford Park won 3-1 at Newcastle East End Railway .

Shankhouse were too strong for hosts Red Row Welfare. The Welfare were beaten 4-0 to goals by Andy Sherlaw, Steve Thornton, Graeme Craggs and Stephen Hogg.

Walker Central won 4-0, thanks to Dave Thompson's second half hat-trick at Whitley Bay Town. And Blyth Town were happy with a 3-1 victory over hosts Wallsend Boys' Club .

In the only Premier Division league game, Cramlington Town beat hosts Northbank 2-1.
