BERWICK Rangers boss Michael Renwick is keeping his fingers crossed for an early change of fortunes after a 10-point gap opened up in the battle for survival.

“Since I took over I have not seen anything in the league to frighten my team and there has been a marked improvement in performance levels,” insisted Renwick after his Borderers had gone down to Peterhead at Shielfield Park. “What we really need to do now is to try to get back to back victories which would kick-start our season.”

Scott Gemmill fired Berwick in front after only 11 minutes with a bullet strike from the edge of the box and only the outstretched leg of keeper Michael Kula denied him another before Peterhead levelled after 38 minutes with Martin Bavidge paving the way for Konrad Kozminski to beat Gary O’Connor with a fierce low shot.

And it was the same duo who combined to seal the points for the visitors, this time Kozminski slipping the ball through.
