It's  been a long time in coming, but Billingham Town finally managed a first win of the season last night when they defeated fellow strugglers Hebburn Town at Bedford Terrace.

Ricky Phillips opened up the opportunity for Karl Charlton to pick his spot on 20 minutes, but Hebburn quickly levelled through Jack Stanger, who fired home a rebound.

Midway through the second half a neat move down the right ended with James McLeod finding the net.

The win lifted Billingham Town off the bottom of the Ebac Northern League First Division table, which is now occupied by Hebburn Town.

Ashington conceded a 93rd-minute winner to Billingham Synthonia, who went in front courtesy of David Carson after 54 minutes.

Chris Hughes equalised with a fabulous strike and, just when it appeared the Colliers had done enough to claim a point, Matthew Osmond headed in the winner in added time.

Sunderland RCA moved out of the bottom six with victory over Team Northumbria.

All three goals were scored in the second half.

Kyle Morris slotted past Andrew Jennison after 53 minutes, and seven minutes later Daniel Wray also struck.

In the last minute, Josh Home Jackson sent in a curling shot which gave Jennison no chance. Celtic Nation moved to third-top with a narrow win at Durham City, with Colin McMenamin scoring the only goal from the penalty spot.

In Division Two, Jarrow Roofing enhanced their promotion prospects with victory over Brandon United, when Gilberto Chapim and Stephen Young were the marksmen.

A brace of goals from Stephen Aiston earned Whickham a point at Tow Law Town, who replied through Simon Ord and Dean Thexton.
