Tom Wade insists his Blyth Spartans youngsters can handle the burden escalating on their shoulders.
The Croft Park club play host to Frickley Athletic tonight, having lost 3-1 to King’s Lynn Town on Saturday.
And Wade wants a response from his players, who have surpassed expectations in Evo-Stik Premier this season.
He said: “It’s an important game for us, we need a reaction from Saturday. I think expectations got to the players a little bit. They’ve been doing so well, people have been saying nice things about them and with that comes a burden.
“It’s a different kind of pressure on them, and something they need to learn to handle. I’m confident they’ll do that because they’re a good set of lads. They played a very good side in King’s Lynn (Town) on Saturday and at 1-1 we should have gone on and scored a couple and won the game.
“The important thing now is that we repsond to that and put it right against Frickley. I thought they looked a good side when we won 1-0 at their place earlier in the season, so we know it won’t be easy.”
