ALAN Pardew says he will take a vow of silence on the January transfer window as he looks to concentrate on the players who are available to him.

With the Newcastle boss confirming Steven Taylor faces a long lay-off – and predicting Yohan Cabaye will not be back until February – it has focused black-and-white attention on a transfer window which surely requires further reinforcing of a threadbare squad. No detailed plans have been formulated yet, though, with a plan of action set to be devised over the next fortnight.

Pardew said: “I know I have given an overview of where our season may go, but I am not going to talk about the window because that is unfair looking at where we are right now.

“We have 10 top players in that treatment room and the players I have playing I need to get the best out of them.

“You won’t get anything about January from me. There will be discussions between myself and Derek and Mike about the plan for January for sure.”
