A Night out in Bishop Auckland – with all due respect to that fine and historic town – is perhaps not seen as an overwhelmingly attractive prospect right now.

But all that could change soon.

The Eleven Arches project aims to create a fantastic new attraction in County Durham, one that aims to create jobs and raise aspirations across the whole area.

With philanthropist Jonathan Ruffer providing financial muscle as well as visionary zeal, it’s really beginning to catch the imagination.

It deserves to succeed and we wish it well.
