A new night bus service between Newcastle and Sunderland starts tonight.

A new night bus service between Newcastle and Sunderland starts tonight. The Go North East Fab 56 runs via Gateshead, Wrekenton, Washington and Hylton Castle.

Four nightly buses will run hourly from Sunderland Interchange and Newcastle's Bridge Street every Saturday and Sunday, departing at 12.15am, 1.15am, 2.15am and 3.15am.

CAB returns

The Citizens Advice Bureau in Berwick is to resume sessions at Belford, Seahouses and Wooler after a gap of over a year since European funding ended. A lottery grant will fund them for five years.

Drop-ins are at Seahouses community rooms and resource centre every Tuesday and Wooler's Cheviot Centre each Wednesday. It's appointments only at Bell View Centre in Belford on Mondays.

Metro boom

Metro passengers are boosting the case for ministers to back a £600m upgrade. The 38.4m trips in the past year, were up 2.4m (6.6%), the best since 1994.

Growing hobby

The Forestry Commission has a willow workshop, to introduce novices to this rapidly growing past-time, at Kielder Castle on June 14. Cost £10 and places must be booked on (01434) 250209.

Rent licensing

People at Easington Colliery are being invited to learn of a new scheme on June 6 at the Parish Rooms. The council is considering a plan under which landlords would apply for licences before being allowed to rent.
