TWO men are today appearing in court after a businessman was blasted the leg with a shotgun on a plush estate.

Amjed Malik was targeted by masked attackers while visiting a close friend on the exclusive Darras Hall estate, in Ponteland, Northumberland, last month.

The 31-year-old was gunned down at a bungalow on Middle Drive, during the early hours of August 31.

Police have today confirmed that two men, one from Newcastle’s West End and one from Manchester have been charged with conspiracy to wound and commit grievous bodily harm.

Shakir Javid, 32, of Bolbec Road, in Fenham, Newcastle, and Shazad Dean, also known as Rafi Hussain, 31, of Bowden

Avenue in Manchester, were both due to appear before magistrates in Bedlington this morning.

Amjed has now been discharged from Newcastle General Hospital, where he underwent surgery to repair his shattered leg, part of which was blasted away by the double-barreled shotgun used in the alleged attack.

But he is still receiving treatment at home, in Newcastle’s West End
