Drugs charge

A MAN has been charged with possessing drugs following a police raid.

The 40-year-old man was arrested after police searched premises in the Cairnmount area of Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders. Anyone with information should ring Hawick Police on (01450) 375051.

Charity boost

THE Northumberland branch of Macmillan Cancer Relief has been presented with £2,500 following a recent fundraising lunch organised by the North-East shooting fraternity at the Assembly Rooms in Newcastle.

The money was handed over to the charity by Antony Michaelides, owner of the Assembly Rooms. It will help fund palliative care nurses and physiotherapists working with cancer patients across Northumberland.

Parking talks

TRADERS in Morpeth are to meet Castle Morpeth Council chiefs to discuss possible changes to car parking charges in the town after an independent retail survey commissioned from Newcastle University.
