Hundreds of people came together to celebrate Christmas and remember loved ones at a special service.

The annual Lights to Remember event, at St Nicholas’ Cathedral in Newcastle, was organised by Marie Curie Cancer Care.

People were invited to dedicate candles to the memory of loved ones. The programme included readings, reflections, music and carols, with songs from the Gosforth and District choir.

Katie Searles, community fundraiser, said: “This is always a lovely service that allows people to come together and remember their loved ones.”
