Society bride the Hon Alice Beaumont took cover under an umbrella as she left Hexham Abbey with her new husband Richard Maxey.

The happy couple announced their engagement last August and tied the knot at the Abbey on Saturday before a packed church of friends and family.

Miss Beaumont is the second daughter of prominent landowners Lord and Lady Allendale of Bywell Castle, near Stocksfield, Northumberland. Mr Maxey is the son of Mr and Mrs Philip Maxey of Longmeadow, Hertfordshire.

Wearing a beautiful cream silk and lace dress, Miss Beaumont arrived at the church with her father. Rain failed to dampen the glamorous occasion as the bride was escorted into the Abbey.

Two flower girls, in dainty white and cream dresses, added a splash of colour with matching lilac brollies while the groom opted for a traditional blue and yellow ensemble.

The wedding comes just over a year after Miss Beaumont’s sister Lucy also held her wedding at Hexham Abbey. She was married last May to Michael Marsham, son of the Earl and Countess of Romney, with Pippa Middleton in attendance.
