A man appeared in court yesterday following a robbery at a newsagent.
Edward Teague, 25, of Botham House, Percy Main, has been charged with robbery after an incident at a shop on Verne Road, North Shields, at 6am on Monday when two masked men threatened an employee with a knife and stole cash, cigarettes and a video recorder. A WOMAN suffered suspected back injuries in a crash between two cars in Gateshead yesterday[Wed].
The accident happened on Kingsway North at the Team Valley Trading Estate when a Lexus and a Nissan Almera were involved in a collision. The driver of the Lexus had to be cut free by fire crews and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead with possible spinal and whiplash injuries. A MAN arrested following an attack at a Gateshead pub was released on bail yesterday.
A 54-year-old man was left in a critical, but stable condition after he was assaulted at the Trafalgar pub on Trinity Square, Gateshead town centre, at about 12.30am on Monday. He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead, but switched to Newcastle General with serious head injuries. FIRE crews rescued a man from his smoke-filled home early yesterday [Wed] after a kitchen blaze.
The 38-year-old man was saved after a chip pan caught fire at his home on Durham Street, Elswick, Newcastle. The man was taken to Newcastle General Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
TWO women were injured in a crash in Sunderland yesterday[Wed].
The accident happened on Easington Lane near the quarry when a Ford Focus and Nissan Micra collided. One of the women was taken to Dryburn Hospital with leg injuries. The other was taken to Sunderland Royal Hospital.
