PRINCE sang about it, so did Jimi Hendrix and now purple is back to reign supreme. It’s often associated with royalty but you don’t have to be the Queen to wear it.

Now the true colour of rock’n’roll (think Prince’s Purple Rain and Hendrix’s Purple Haze) is back for Autumn/Winter and it’s everywhere.

From bags and belts to shoes and frocks, it’s the essential colour of the season.

It’s not just bright purple that’s on offer – there are hues of plum, lilac and violet to choose from.

High street stores have brought the colour bang up to date and are featuring it on daytime and evening dresses, heels and flats and glitzy bags and leather holdalls.

Whatever shade you choose you can either vamp it up for evening or tone it down for day.
