This year's Northumberland Young Farmers' annual pantomime competition will be held next month.
The teams will compete in heats on February 19, 20, and 22 for a place in the final on February 22, with the eventual winner representing Northumberland at the Northern Area Final. The public are invited along to the shows which will be held at the Queen's Hall in Hexham at 7pm every night throughout the competition. Tickets are £6 for adults and £4 for concessions. NEW recruits are being sought in North Tyneside to become part of the beach lifeguard team.
The council is looking for 30 beach lifeguards and four senior beach lifeguards to work between May and September, all of whom must possess the Royal Lifesaving Society's National Beach Lifeguard Qualification. The closing date for posts is February 24. For more details contact (0191) 219-2477.
MORE students in South Tyneside are choosing to study at South Tyneside College instead of going further afield when they leave school, a new report has found.
The survey of year 11 school pupils in 2006 has shown that the number of young people in the area attending the college over the past year has increased by 6.9%. The report also revealed that last year there was a 2.6% decrease in the number of Year 11 pupils choosing to study at Newcastle College and a 1.8% decrease in those going on to study at City of Sunderland College.
