Northumberland is set to host the biggest light show in the country - with a host of landmark buildings and attractions being lit up.

Bamburgh Castle, the Simonside Hills and Blyth's wind turbines will be among the dazzling displays in the Northumberland Lights Festival, which starts next weekend. The first site to be lit up will be the Cutter Building at the Woodhorn museum, near Ashington, which will be illuminated from October 28, when the museum reopens.

Director of Northumberland Tourism Giles Ingram said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to promote and celebrate our natural, historical and industrial heritage."
