A man has been flown to hospital after falling at Warkworth Castle this morning.
The man, believed to be 50-years-old, fell in the Keep area of the castle in Northumberland, at around 10am today, Tuesday, July 2.
He was flown by air ambulance to Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary and is in a serious condition.
A North East Ambulance spokeswoman said: "We got a call at 10.05am from a member of staff at the castle reporting that a 50-year-old man had suffered a fall in the Keep area of the castle. Members of our HART (Hazard Area Response Team) team attended and the air ambulance was also called and they took the patient to the RVI."
A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "At 11.46am on Tuesday, July 2, police received a report that a man found with injuries at Warkworth Castle in Warkworth had been taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment. His injuries are thought to be serious.
"Officers are carrying out enquiries to establish what has happened although there's not thought to be any third party involvement at this stage."
