The Schools Line Dancing Festival, organised by Gateshead Council, is part of the Healthy Schools initiative to encourage children to exercise more.

More than 1,000 children take part tomorrow Wednesday and Thursday at Gateshead Leisure Centre.

Light footprint

THE North-East's touring Climate Dome has been given a new energy efficient car by Newcastle company Springfield Honda.

The Dome has been travelling the region since last January. The car can travel 700 miles on one tank of fuel.

SCOTTISH Borders Council Berwickshire Area Committee has given planning permission for the former fire station at Allanton, near Chirnside, to be converted to an annexe for the Allanton Inn.

VINTAGE vehicles will be out in force on June 23 and 24 as Stockton hosts one of the North's biggest rallies of preserved vehicles.

The classic car event at Preston Park will include a display of death-defying motorcycle stunts.

Both days begin at 11am and end at 5pm.

Admission is £3 for adults and £1.50 concessions.
