A woman was taken to hospital yesterday after a fire at her home.

Two fire crews were called to a house on Cowpen Hall Road, Blyth, Northumberland, at 9.45am after a kitchen fire.

The owner was taken to hospital suffering from shock and smoke inhalation.

Tram days

THE last days of the tram will be considered at the next meeting of the North-East Railway Society.

The meeting will be held at Brunswick Methodist Church, Brunswick Place, Newcastle, with Dave Allinson. The society meets on the second Thursday of each month from 7pm to 9.30pm. The next meeting will be on December 8.

Landmark tour

A VIDEO tour of a landmark attraction will be launched on Wednesday.

The video of Fulwell Windmill, Sunderland, lasts 15 minutes and takes visitors on a tour of the 19th Century building.

Charity sing

A CAROL concert in aid of children's charity NCH will take place on December 10.

Durham Constabulary Band will be joined at Elvet Methodist Church, Durham City, by the choir of Framwellgate Moor School. The concert begins at 7pm. Tickets are £5 for adults and £15 for families.

Brendan's back

POPULAR Irish comedian Brendan O'Carroll will return to the Journal Tyne Theatre next year with Mrs Brown's Last Wedding - the first part of his hit trilogy.
