Have you seen a performance this year that took your breath away? Have you attended an event you will remember forever?
If so, then it is possible you have seen someone or something worthy of a Culture Award.
The Journal Culture Awards are launched today, as you will see on Page 38 of Culture, free with today's paper.
On March 26 next year, at the rebuilt and revamped Northern Stage, the inaugural North-East Culture Awards will be presented to some of the people who helped to make 2006 memorable.
The new awards, sponsored by the partners of The Journal's Culture initiative, are designed to celebrate the best of the region's cultural activity during 2006.
There will be awards in a whole range of categories including best newcomer, best performance, artist of the year and best event.
Further awards will be given to those who, in the opinion of the judges, achieved the most in using culture in the community or forged the most effective partnership between the arts and business.
Members of The Journal Culture Club will get the chance to decide on the winner of their special award.
More information about the Culture Awards will appear in The Journal tomorrow.
