A forum set up to foster new business development in part of Northumberland is holding a special Hallowe'en event to drive forward its plans.

About 150 business people will attend tomorrow night's Passionate About Wansbeck event at the new Woodhorn museum and archives centre in Ashington. Organised by the Wansbeck Business Forum, it aims to get local businesses involved in the drive to create an entrepreneurial society in the former coal mining stronghold. Businesses will be asked to sign a pledge to become a supporter of the Forum and will be given details of how they can benefit from the work of the group.

MetroCentre founder Sir John Hall and Evening Chronicle editor Paul Robertson - who are both from Ashington - will be the guest speakers at the event, which ends with a fireworks display.

Forum chair Angela Steward will outline the group's vision, what it means and how businesses can get involved in it.
