The natural environment category of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Conservation Awards went to the Garrigill Shoot for habitat work on Yad Moss, between Teesdale and the South Tyne.

Northumbrian Water received a Highly Commended Award for their commitment to public access associated with the creation of new wetlands at Burnhope Reservoir in Wearhead.

The Building Design and Conservation winner is East Cumbria Countryside Project for its renovation of the Nine Standards cairns on the ridge above Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria.
