Rebecca Young finds out how we can all inject a little bit of Sex and the City glamour into our wardrobes this autumn

FOR those women looking for something extra special to invest in this autumn, head to Marks & Spencer where a touch of New York glamour is due to arrive.

The High Street favourite has scooped an exclusive deal with famed Sex and the City, Ugly Betty and The Devil Wears Prada designer and stylist, Patricia Field, to sell a one-off fashion range in its stores. This will be the first time M&S has worked with a designer on a once-in-a-lifetime range in this way.

From Thursday, North East shoppers can buy the range from Marks & Spencer stores at the MetroCentre, Teesside Retail Park and in the Northumberland Street branch. For those internet-savvy shoppers among us, it can also be viewed and bought through the Marks & Spencer website.

Patricia said: “It’s just amazing to be working with such an iconic brand as M&S. I really wanted to get involved with a brand that really understood women of all ages and that would work closely with me to develop the range in a way that was right for them.”

The Patricia Field for M&S Collection focuses primarily on dresses, as well as a capsule collection of tops, trousers and accessories. Those who saw Sex and the City: The Movie this summer will certainly recognise a few of the pieces although there have been a few stylish tweaks to the original designs, making them a little more wearer-friendly.

Each piece within the collection combines Patricia Field’s individual signature styling with Marks & Spencer’s high standards in quality, precision, cutting and finish. Fabrics used in the collection include silks, georgettes, metallics and stretch satins. Prints are also heavily featured in the collection with polka dots, stars, stripes, animal print and traditional florals.

Kim Cattrall (Samantha in Sex and the City) said of the designer in a recent interview: “There is no one like Patricia Field, she creates trends by herself.” It seems Marks & Spencer couldn’t agree more. Her individual designs and attention-to-detail will ensure that this is snapped up by fashion lovers throughout the region. They will adore it.
