Girls Aloud did us proud

I love Girls Aloud. And last night's performance only put fuel to the fire of my secret fantasies to become a member.

I love Girls Aloud. And last night's performance only put fuel to the fire of my secret fantasies to become a member.

The five girls, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts and the North-East's Cheryl Cole (nee Tweedy) burst on stage for the first night of their UK tour.

They trounced their way through a back catalogue of pop-perfect greatest hits - Sound of the Underground, No Good Advice, Jump, The Show and of course Biology to name but a few.

But the highlight of my evening was when two worlds of greatness collided - Girls Aloud singing the soundtrack to Dirty Dancing.

Yes, they warbled their way through Do you Love me, She's Like the Wind and I've Had the Time of my Life - `the lift' included. The girls weren't looking too shabby either. I have it on good authority that Cheryl was looking particularly on form, whereas my favourite was Nadine.

And that's some achievement considering the whole Jesse Metcalfe saga.

They put their all into tight dance routines, there were no dodgy notes and they changed their way through the cutest showgirlesque outfits imaginable.

Anyway out of 10 you already know what I would give them.

All I can say is that the rest of the UK is in for a treat.
