Anyone who follows the fitness tips offered on our website by Fit Factor trainer David Fairlamb and previous contestant Kerry Robertson will be able to make positive changes to their health.
One man who knows better than any that you don’t need to be part of the team to lose weight is Keith Ellison, who lost a staggering 5st 3lbs in just six months.
The father initially applied to become a contestant for Fit Factor 2013 as his weight had ballooned to 20st 4lbs and he was fast approaching the age of 40.
Mr Ellison was determined to shed the pounds as he had been asked by his sister to walk her down the aisle.
After being short-listed for The Journal’s competition, Mr Ellison was left disappointed not to make the final six, yet was determined to succeed on his quest to slim down.
Mr Ellison, of Consett, County Durham, signed up to David Fairlamb’s beach bootcamp and began focusing on having a healthy diet.
He said: “After being short-listed and interviewed, it was a hammer blow to find out I hadn’t been selected.
“For the next three days I got really down about things. I wanted to be part of the Fit Factor team as I had set my mind to it.
“On the following Monday, I had a hospital appointment regarding a few dizzy spells I’d been getting and I had some tests done.
“Everything came back clear, but the consultant told me if I didn’t change my life now, I’d most likely contract diabetes and heart disease. That was the final wake up call I needed.”
Mr Ellison dropped from a clothes size XXXL to large.
His wife, Stephanie, and daughter, Sophie, also lost weight as the family’s eating habits improved.
