CHRISTMAS may be over but the cold months of January and February are still to come. Wrapping up snug is essential, but you don’t have to let style slip for the sake of comfort.

High street stores and designers have come up with stylish winter wear that will keep you warm as well ensure that you still look good.

From winter coats to chunky knitwear, gloves, scarves, hats and boots there is plenty to choose from that will ward off the winter chills.

COATS: Star by Julien Macdonald has an eye-catching Chinchilla long faux fur coat (1) that is perfect as evening wear. It’s £70 and available from Debenhams.

Betty Jackson, at Debenhams, also has a stylish coat that has a cocoon neck that will keep out the cold weather (2). It’s £200 and available in black and lime green.

Others that stand out include a Betty Barclay black mac (3), a tailored overcoat from Austin Reed £250 (4) and a stylish brown leather jacket (5) £950 from Country Casuals.

KNITS: Betty Barclay has come up trumps with a long wraparound knitted cardigan with a tasselled fringe hem (6). It comes in a shocking cerise colour to stave off the winter blues. Marks & Spencer also has a knitted coat (7), £49.50, which you could layer with a polo neck and wear without an overcoat in warmer climes or just wear around the house.

Great Plains has a chunky knit wrap-around cardigan in grey (8) that features a pretty ribbon tie for £65.

For bargain hunters Matalan has a grey zip collar jumper for just £18.

BOOTS: Clarks have a great selection of winter boots. Favourites are camel sheepskin boots in cream (9), £120, that will keep your toes toasty and tan, flat leather boots (10), £89.99.

ACCESSORIES: Snoods have made a comeback and are the accessory of winter. Oli has a knitted snood, as does Evans in a chunky khaki knit (11) for £15.

Scarves, hats and gloves are winter essentials. For those who like to stand out in a crowd, Red Herring at Debenhams has produced a neon check scarf (12), £15, while Tu at Sainsbury has a selection of leather gloves (13) for £10 in a variety of colour.

Accessorize has also gone colour crazy with a wide range of knitted hats, scarves and gloves (14).

If the winter climes continue through to spring, at least you can stay stylish as well as warm.
