Mystery hero

SCOOBY-DOO will be on Wearside in all his mystery-solving glory next month when the show Scooby-Doo Live on Stage comes to the Sunderland Empire Theatre.

Homes plan

PLANS for 134 homes in Hebburn will be discussed by South Tyneside Council's planning committee on Friday[apr13].

Persimmon Homes wants to change the layout of the next phase of its North Farm Road development, which will involve 425 homes in total. Planning officers say they are "minded to grant permission" subject to a series of conditions.

Man stabbed

A MAN, 26, has been charged with affray following a stabbing in North Road, Durham, which left another man, 28, hospitalised.

The incident happened at about 4.40pm on Thursday, outside Gregg's shop. The man was due to appear before magistrates in Peterlee this morning. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0845-60-60-365 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.

Leader's visit

UK INDEPENDENCE Party leader Nigel Farage will visit the North-East on April 26 to lend his support to local election candidates.

He will address a public meeting in Stockton's Swallow Hotel. UKIP will fight seats on 11 North-East councils at the May 3 polls.

Training camp

THE TyneMet Trojans Basketball Club is to hold an Easter training camp for budding basketball players of the future.

The three-day camp will run from Wednesday to Friday next week and will be held at Tyne Metropolitan College's Academy Campus Sports Hall on Hawkeys Lane, North Shields.
