A British soldier has been killed during a routine patrol in Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said yesterday.

A British soldier has been killed during a routine patrol in Helmand Province in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defence said yesterday. The soldier, from the 1st Battalion, Royal Anglian Regiment was seriously injured by small arms fire during fighting with Taliban forces. He was airlifted to the main British base at Camp Bastion, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
