£150 backing for appeal

The chairman of Northumber-land County Council, Tom Saunders, has donated £150 to Morpeth Town Council's fundraising appeal to restore and enhance the grave of suffragette Emily Davidson in St Mary's Churchyard, Morpeth.

The money was raised through a collection at the recent church service to mark International Women's Day.

Safety drive

TRAFFIC lights are to be installed and road surface improvements carried out from Monday at the A19/A194 Lindisfarne roundabout in South Tyneside.

Council chiefs said there have been 34 personal injury accidents between January 2002 and June 2006 there.

And the junction is ranked a priority in South Tyneside Council's local safety scheme programme.

Nuisance talks

NORTH Tyneside Council is asking residents how they want to see anti-social behaviour tackled.

Two residents' groups are meeting the authority's Safer Estates Team every six weeks to monitor how it deals with nuisance neighbours.
