THE first of three public meetings takes place next week on how Northumberland National Park should be run.

The meeting at 6pm on Monday at Elsdon village hall will gather views about the structure and composition of the board of the national park authority.

This is part of a national consultation by the Department for Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) on how parks are governed. Other meetings will be held at the Twice Brewed Inn on Hadrian’s Wall at 6pm on Thursday, January 13 and at Ingram village hall at 6pm on Monday, January 17.

The meetings will feature a list of local proposals to help people consider different possibilities for running national parks and how it may affect themselves and their communities.

People who would like to contribute their views but cannot attend a public meeting can write to Stuart Evans, Director of Policy and Resources at Northumberland National Park Authority Eastburn, South Park, Hexham NE46 1BS. Alternatively they can contact him by email at stuart.evans@nnpa.org.uk.

They can also add comments to the National Park Public On-Line Forum at www.northumberlandnationalpark.org.uk/governanceforum.
