A MIDWIFE at Wansbeck Hospital has proved she’s one of the best in the country by winning an award.

Jenny Gregory received the National Maternity Support Foundation (NMSF) Award for Excellence in Bereavement Care at the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Annual Awards.

The award will provide funding for Jenny to train in bereavement care. Jenny, pictured, is the link between the hospital’s delivery suite on the maternity unit and the Teardrop Group, which supports families who suffer the loss of a baby.

The award was presented at the Royal College of Midwives Annual Midwifery Awards at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington.

Jenny said: “I was so pleased to be nominated and to actually win and be recognised on a national level is absolutely amazing. It is recognition for the whole group’s hard work and dedication over the years to make a difference to families at very difficult times.”

Janice McNichol, head of midwifery at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “I’m really pleased for Jenny – she deserves the award for the excellent work she’s done and it is brilliant news for the unit.”
