NORTHUMBERLAND’S fighting spirit is on the agenda for Newcastle University historian John Sadler in a series of Tynedale library lectures in the next two months.

Mr Sadler, from the School of Lifelong Learning, will focus on the Border Reivers, the Northumbrian Jacobites and the county’s contribution to the 1914-18 Great War.

The lecture programme is:

Haltwhistle Library ( 01434 220495) 2-4pm: Mon, Mar 5 – The Northumbrian Reivers; Mon Mar 26 – Northumberland in the Great War; Mon, Apr 2 – The Northumbrian Jacobites 1689-1746.

Hexham Library ( 01434 652488) 6-7.30pm: Mon Mar 5 – Reivers; Mon Mar 26 – Great War; Mon Apr 16 – Jacobites.

Allendale Library (01434 683550) 6-7.30pm: Tue, Mar 13 – Reivers; Tue, Mar 27 – Jacobites.

Bellingham Library ( 01434 220495) 10am-12 noon: Tue, Apr 17 – Reivers; Tue, Apr 24 – Great War.

Places cost £4 per session and must be paid beforehand. Call libraries direct to book.
