DARTS commentator Sid Waddell will make a triumphant return to the World Darts Championship next week.
The 71-year-old commentator, who was born in Northumberland, will be in the box at Alexandra Palace in London after fighting back from a bowel cancer scare.
His wife Irene said Waddell, the son of a Northumberland miner, was responding well to treatment and hoped to return to the commentary box soon.
She said: “He will be at the world championships next week, but we don’t know exactly when he will be commentating.”
