A North East shopping centre is staging an awards ceremony which recognises good retail practice and great service.

Bosses at Sanderson Arcade in Morpeth first ran the awards scheme last year for the first time last year, and are holding it again in September.

Stores, shop workers and office staff are competing in seven different award categories and the prize giving  ceremony will be held at Barluga on September 3. Categories include customer service team of the year, top business manager, most improved business,  green business of the year and retailer of the year.

For most of the awards, applicants can submit their own entry for a panel of independent judges to review. For the top award – retailer of the year– shoppers are being asked to vote for their own personal favourite, which last  year was the Corbridge Larder.

People can vote online at www.sandersonarcade.co.uk or use  questionnaires at the centre.
