The couple have lived in the detached Darras Hall house for the past 10 years and have extended and improved the layout and accommodation to suit their family life.

“We’ve probably doubled the size of the house. We’ve extensively altered and modernised it so it’s around twice the size of what it was when we moved in here,” explained mother-of-three Julie.

“We’ve decorated throughout, all of the bathrooms are new - everything has been redone. We’ve got five bedrooms and three bathrooms now. We’ve landscaped all of the gardens, put remote controlled gates on at the front, added a summer house, decking, patios, and a conseravatory.”

Ground floor accommodation includes a hallway, study, a fifth bedroom which is used as a gym, a guest bedroom which is served by a Jack and Jill en suite with new walk-in shower room, a large lounge, diner and spacious modern kitchen. There is also a conservatory and utility.

Julie, 49, who works in retail, says: “It’s modern but not minimalistic. It’s a proper family home, with many new aspects to it. It’s been a lovely home for us. We’ve all enjoyed living here. The house is just probably a little bit too big for us now and we’re looking to downsize. But it has been great and we’ve enjoyed the 10 years that we’ve been here.

“We’ve had a really good time, made lots of good friends and are part of the community. It’s a lovely place to live. The house is right in the middle of Darras Hall and it’s a perfect place to be.”

The property has double electric access gates to the front, beyond which is a large block paved driveway which provides parking for around eight cars, a lawned area and mature trees. A double garage with a remote controlled door offers additional parking or storage space.

To the back is a landscaped garden. “The back of the house has a lovely aspect, especially when you use that living space the most,” said Julie. “With it being south facing, we’re not overlooked, we’ve landscaped all of the garden and it’s a really lovely space where the whole family can just sit and relax or have a barbecue.”

Julie adds: “It’s a really pretty house and it’s been a nice home. It’s it the heart of Darras Hall. It’s in a lovely area. The children have all gone to the schools here and the schools are all Ofsted excellent. Our son Michael is still at school so we’re looking to stay here until he’s finished.

“It’s quiet and rural but then it’s not too far from the town either. From the position of our house, with it being central we can walk to all of the shops and all amenities. It’s just a lovely green and peaceful place to live.”
